| Summary: | Under the auspices of the S.P.C.K. a revision of the French Bible was undertaken at Paris by a committee which included H.T. Luscombe and A.J. Matter. Their work attemped to combine the merits of Martin and Ostervald, with constant reference to the originals. It was intended chiefly for circulation in the Channel Islands. The N.T. appeared in 1842 and the Bible in 1849,48. A complete Bible with the Apocrypha appeared in 1852 -- Darlowe and Moule, v. II, pt. 1, p. 428. |
